3 Ways to Be Happier
We all want to be feel happy inside and lead a happy life. Sometimes though, we can unknowingly get sidetracked and before we know it, we're not feeling the happiness we want to be feeling. There are many ways to help yourself to feel happier inside, but for the moment, here are three quick ways you can help yourself feel happier today.
1- Filter Out The Negative
There's plenty of negativity in the world that could affect us if we let it. The trick is to not let it bring us down and jeopardize our happiness. To start, if you filter out some of the negativity you subject yourself to, in both the Media and Social Media arenas, you'll see a big affect on your state of mind. Seeing scary headlines on television and in news headlines along with negative posts from people on Social Media not only can jeopardize a person's self esteem, but it can create feelings of fear and submission.
Secondly, filter out the negative people around you and surround yourself with people who live the life you want to live. As is true with misery breeding misery, it's also true that positivity breeds positivity which leads ultimately to happiness. So, think about the social situations that you tend to not enjoy that ruin your good mood, then make an effort to mostly attend those situations that are conducive to your happy place.
2- Learn To Let Go Of Negative Habits
Let's face it, we are all creatures of habit. Our lives are filled to the brim with habits we've formed of one kind or another. These include habits revolving around the things we do plus habits in the ways our minds think as well. So, the key to feeling and being happier is getting rid of as many of your old bad habits and keeping and forming new good habits.
In terms of thought related habits, stop saying, " I can't" all the time and replace it with "I can". Also, become more aware of other things you do and thoughts you have that are not conducive to your personal growth and happy feelings inside of you. Start in manageable steps, but analyze each one and replace each of those bad habits with a good one. You'll see yourself slowing freeing yourself of negative energy and actions and forming new positive ones instead.
3- Do At Least 1 Thing That Makes You Happy Each Day
This one is so important to make sure you do. It does take effort, but once you get into a "good" habit of doing this you will become a pro at it. You'll eventually find it easier to do more and more things that make you feel happy each day. Some ideas are:
- Eat something you love that makes you go Yum (in moderation)
- Sit for a few minutes and relax
- Call or go see someone that makes you feel happy
- Watch or read something that makes you laugh
- Smile at someone because smiles are contagious.
So, take a few moments now and write a list of the sources of negativity in your life, your habits (both good and bad) and at least one thing that you can do each day that will make you feel happier. This will help you to become more aware of yourself and your life and then take action to improve your happiness. Doing this will surely help you to achieve it.
