Learn How to Adapt to Life's Challenges

We all know that life is not always smooth sailing 100% of the time. Some days seem to go perfectly as we've planned or just seem to just sail by without a hitch.  Those are the days that we tend to love the most.

Other days aren't as smooth sailing. Sometimes a day can have many mishaps happen throughout the day that can either throw us off kilter or have the potential to derail our entire day.

Being that the majority of days, aren't 100% smooth sailing, we need to be able to adapt to daily challenges and "roll with the punches", as the saying goes. If we don't, we'll let life's mishaps dictate the type of day that we have and not fully enjoy it.

When I am out and about, I witness people's reactions to mishaps. Something unexpected or happens to someone and they immediately respond like it's the end of the world, or in a doom and gloom manner. You can tell that they're going to have the rest of their day turn out to be a bust. What they don't realize is that the more they react in that way, the more mishaps will occur to them.

Maybe because I've been through hell more than a few times during my lifetime and "survived", the small stuff doesn't really affect me so much. By the small stuff, I mean those times when things just don't go as planned or a mishap occurs.

Just the other day, I was cutting my hair as I always do each week, and I start trimming the sides and whoopsie, I had forgotten to put the attachment on the buzzer. Needless to say I did several swipes of my head real short- down to my skin.

It was funny (well not so funny), that we were going to be attending a party, in about 1 hour, over a friends house where there would be new people that we would be meeting. Without much thought, I just quickly made the decision that nobody would really notice and proceed to cut all of the sides of my hair just as short to even it out. I decided I would just made a fashion statement and not really worry about it. What could I really do anyway? Wear a bog wide brimmed hat to the party? hehe

I finished cutting my hair, showered and put it out of my mind and didn't let it phase me. I really did have a great time at the party. One positive thing happened though. I can go an extra week without cutting the sides again!

If I let that mishap dictate the rest of my day, I could have been self conscious, annoyed or feeling frustrated the rest of the day. I could have also have caused other mishaps to occur if I was throwing negative energy out there. As we know energy attracts like energy.

So just remember that life isn't always smooth sailing. If you go with the flow and adapt to the challenges, you will be much more happier and have less mishaps occur in your life- or at the very least, not let them ruin your day or life.
