Step Out of Your Comfort Zone

Are you afraid of trying new things and having fun? Are you the person who never accepts invitations to social events, or accepts but then consistently doesn't show up at the last minute, for whatever reason? Are you afraid to venture out and try new experiences, foods, cultural events? If so, you may be really limiting your possibilities to have a fun and rewarding life.

Many people look at others and wish they had a fun life like "others do". What they don't realize is that they could in fact,  have just as fun of a life. They could have a rewarding circle of friends and an endless supply of memorable experiences, if they just allowed themselves to step out of their own comfort zone.

What typically happens when you are one of the people that never shows up, or never wants to try new things, your friends list dwindles down. You may really want to be included but if you never follow through and actually show up, people will lose interest and stop inviting you to things.

Also, do you reciprocate with others, when you've been to other people's houses for get-togethers? Do you have others over to your place? If the answer is No, chances are your invitations will stop coming. You will dramatically dwindle your chances at having and retaining a great circle of friends who care about you, and with whom you will always have the ability to try new things. Any reasons you may come up with, of why you don't invite others, may just seem like "excuses".

Again, it comes to your comfort zone. Maybe it's your fear of fitting in, or having something to talk about with others, or trying new foods, or feeling your place is too small, or unclean... the list can go on and on.  When you only do things that you know for sure, you can do or like - you limit your possibilities of truly enjoying life.

We all have our comfort zones and some of us are more apprehensive about stepping out of them.  If you are one of these people, do something today to break that cycle. Make a point of accepting an invitation and actually show up to an event; have a gathering at your place and have faith that everyone will enjoy your company; try a new food today or a new activity that you have never done before.  Start small or go large!

Believe me, if you keep doing this on a daily basis, you will see how much fun life can truly be.
