Let Yourself Have Fun

Have you ever wondered why others seem to have a lot more fun than you do? If so, it's important to realize that fun brings joy, and in order to have a more joyful life, you need to allow yourself to have fun

We all have a lot going on in life- jobs, housework, children, pets, homework, exercise, cooking, care-giving, just to name a few. The list can go on and on. Sometimes we have a choice of how many things we have going on and at other times we don't. The key is fitting in some kind of fun for yourself because life is short and you're definitely worth it.

For those of you who don't have enough fun in your lives, it's time to take a look at your life and change the things you CAN change. Now, I know that some of you may be thinking that it's impossible to do that, but I'm a believer that anything is possible- change can happen even a little step at a time.

So take a few minutes now and ask yourself these questions. Do you spread yourself too thin by making too many commitments? Do you satisfy everyone else's needs and wants and rarely your own?. Do you feel guilty if you don't say yes to everyone? Are you taking on too much and not being realistic based on your actual time available? Do you say yes to too many invitations and find yourself not able to have fun at any of them? Are you always running around and not "smelling the roses"?

If you answered yes to any of those questions, it's time to make some positive changes in your life. The key is to be good to yourself while being good to others. While you are taking care of your commitments and being good to others, make sure that you include yourself in the mix. Make time for you. If you are taking on too much, pull back. If you are a calendar person, actually set times during the day to do what YOU want to do that will make you feel happy.

You'll find that when you feel happier and more relaxed you will be more capable of helping others. When you are running ragged, feeling stressed and deprived, how can you fully be there for others anyway? With upcoming posts, I will be demonstrating techniques you can use to help yourself achieve more happiness in life. You'll see when you feel happy, the happiness will spread to others. Happiness is a positive vicious cycle.
